Man Commits Suicide Following Heated Argument with Wife
An Osun State artisan, identified as Tope Olajide, reportedly took his own life on Thursday morning following a misunderstanding with his wife. The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. in Otan-Ile, located in Obokun Local Government Area.
Kehinde Adeleke, spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. According to Adeleke, information reached the Ilare division of NSCDC at approximately 9:27 a.m. that Olajide, popularly known as “MECO,” had committed suicide.
Adeleke added that while Olajide reportedly had a disagreement with his wife the previous night, the exact circumstances leading to his death remain unclear.
The State Commandant, CC Igbalawole Sotiyo, used the occasion to urge married couples and individuals facing emotional difficulties to seek help from the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of NSCDC Osun State Command. Adeleke emphasized that the unit has successfully mediated numerous cases and provides support and guidance to those in distress.
“No one should ever feel compelled to take their own life. Every life is valuable and irreplaceable,” Adeleke said.
