Man Beats Wife, Mother of Three, to Death in Benin
A man identified as Esosa Imasue has allegedly beaten his wife, Chinwedu Nnadozie, to death in Benin City, Edo State. The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Oza Street in the Ogbelaka area, along Sakponba Road. According to sources familiar with the situation, the couple had a heated disagreement that escalated into violence, during which Imasuen is said to have inflicted severe injuries on his wife, a mother of three.
Following the assault, Chinwedu was rushed to a hospital where doctors diagnosed her with internal bleeding. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries before her father, Everistus Nnadozie, could reach her. According to Mr. Nnadozie, he was informed that his daughter had been taken to the hospital by her husband, who later allegedly transported her body to an undisclosed mortuary without informing the family.
Mr. Nnadozie expressed frustration and grief, stating that Imasuen has since gone into hiding. He said multiple attempts to reach his son-in-law or determine the location of his daughter’s remains have been unsuccessful. “I went to his house, but they said he had absconded,” he said.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command stated that no formal report of the incident had been filed at any police station in Benin at the time of inquiry. The situation remains under investigation.
