Man Arrested in Anambra for Allegedly Killing Brother Over Food Dispute
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, 45, during a heated argument over foodstuffs.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on February 7, 2025, at Adegbe Village, Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area. During the dispute, Kosisochukwu allegedly used a stick to pierce his brother’s chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The suspect has confessed to the crime, stating that the argument over food escalated into a violent confrontation. The police have since transferred the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka. Authorities have confirmed that Kosisochukwu will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.
The police described the incident as disturbing and emphasized the need for families to handle conflicts peacefully to prevent tragic outcomes.
