Man Arrested for Killing Wife During Farm Dispute
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Mr. Abuchi, in connection with the death of his wife in Amaji village, Umuoyoro Community, Omuma Local Government Area.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, while the couple was working on their farm. An argument reportedly escalated, and the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with a kitchen knife. She was a mother of two.
A source told *Punch* that the woman’s screams drew nearby villagers, who intervened, overpowered Abuchi, and restrained him. The event left the community in shock, with residents questioning the cause of the dispute.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the suspect told investigators he “did not know what came over him” at the time of the attack.
Abuchi has been handed over to the Eberi Police Division in Omuma LGA. Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers State Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
