Magu diverting recovered loot – Malami
Abubakar Malami, the minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation has made a recommendation to President Buhari that the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu should be sacked.
He accused Magu of diverting recovered loot, insurbodination, misconduct, recklessness as well as being a liability to the anti-corruption war.
The AGF has been reported to have written a memo to the president alleging accounting gaps or discrepancies in figures concerning the recovered assets, further claiming that Magu has not been forthright in the management of the recovered assets, as he has also been diverting the recovered loot.
It would be recalled that the Senate had hinged its refusal to confirm Magu as the Substantive Chairman of EFCC on a report of the DSS accusing Magu of various forms of financial misconduct.
Magu is however fighting back, as sources close to him in the presidency have been reported to have said sacking Magu at this time would be a huge mistake, considering the giant strides he has taken in the fight against corruption.
