LP Has No Authentic Guber Candidate In Imo, Court Will Decide – LP Imo Chair
The Imo State chapter of the Labour Party has said only the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and court would determine who won the gubernatorial primary election conducted on April 17.
The Imo State Chairman of the party, Chief Onyekwere Ambrose told newsmen that the party currently has no authentic candidate to run for the governorship election.
According to him, there are about five candidates elected by different factions, stating that only the INEC and court would determine the real candidate.
He said, “We have like five people elected by different factions. It is only the court or INEC that will finally release the name of the candidate for Imo State.
“We cannot field five candidates at the same time, so as it is now, there is no sure candidate for Imo governorship election”.
The chairman, however, expressed optimism that despite the crisis, the party has a “big chance to win” the November 11 gubernatorial poll.
“Even as it is, we have a big chance because immediately this candidature issue is settled, every other person will stand behind the authentic candidate. Already, we have a good will in Imo State. We will win because it is Imo Imo, there are no two tribes here, we are one”, he added.
