List of Ex-Governors Under Investigation Circulating Online is Fake – EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has distanced itself from a purported list circulating in the media, alleging corruption investigations against former governors. Contrary to claims in the report titled “EFCC Releases Full List of 58 Ex-Governors that Embezzled N2.187 Trillion,” the EFCC vehemently denies authorship or endorsement of such a document. Dele Oyewale, the head of Media & Publicity for the EFCC, emphasized that the commission neither issued nor discussed any such list with the media. While debunking the falsified information, the EFCC stopped short of confirming or denying ongoing investigations into ex-governors. The public is urged to disregard the misleading report, while media outlets are advised to verify information directly with the EFCC to avoid dissemination of inaccurate news. As speculations persist, the status of ex-governors under EFCC scrutiny remains uncertain, pending official updates from the commission.
