Libya Police Apprehend Two Nigerians Over Kidnapping, Extortion Attempt

 

 

Authorities in Libya have arrested two Nigerian nationals in Sabha for allegedly kidnapping an African girl and attempting to extort money from her. The rescue operation, conducted by the Al-Qahira Police Department, successfully freed the victim and led to the suspects’ capture.

 

According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the suspects, who were undocumented migrants, have been handed over to public prosecutors to face legal proceedings. In a statement, the organization confirmed the operation’s success and the subsequent legal referral of the accused.

 

The statement emphasized the swift action of the police, noting, “Al-Qahira Police Dept. (Sabha) arrested two undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for the kidnapping of an African girl and attempted extortion. Police during the operation successfully freed the victim and apprehended the perpetrators.”

 

The case now moves to the judiciary for further action.
