Lagos Man Shot Dead Following Nightclub Altercation
A man identified as Alex was shot dead on Friday evening in Iyana Isashi, Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, following an apparent dispute that began at a local nightclub. The incident reportedly occurred around 8 pm.
Residents said Alex, who lived in Cele Niza, had just returned from work when he stepped out, possibly to meet a friend. On his way, he was confronted by two men on a motorcycle. One of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him at close range. The sound of gunfire drew nearby residents, who found Alex lying in a pool of blood while the assailants fled the scene. He was immediately rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries earlier Wednesday, after being in a coma since the attack.
According to neighbors, the shooting may have been linked to a confrontation Alex had with strangers at a nightclub the previous day. One resident noted that such disputes were uncharacteristic of Alex, describing him as generally easygoing.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed she was aware of the incident and said she would contact the local divisional police officer for further details.
Iyana Isashi and neighboring communities along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway have witnessed a series of cult-related and gun-related attacks in recent months. Residents have called for increased police intervention to curb such violence.
Funeral arrangements for Alex are reportedly ongoing.
