Imo: Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Burning Maid’s Private Part
Police in Imo State have arrested a 38-year-old businesswoman, Juliet Igwe, for allegedly assaulting her six-year-old ward, identified as Onyinyechi. According to the state police spokesperson, SP Henry Okoye, the suspect was accused of using a lit candle to inflict injuries on the child and pouring hot water on her, causing burns on both hands. Additional injuries were reportedly caused by melted candle wax.
The arrest followed intelligence gathered by officers at the Ideato North Police Division. While being questioned, Igwe admitted to harming the child but claimed she did not realise the materials she used could cause severe injuries. She also accused the girl of taking meat from her pot and said her actions were meant to deter future incidents.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the child is receiving care as the case continues to draw public concern.
