Kogi Youths Purchase APC 2027 Presidential Form for Tinubu, Applauded by Party Chairman
Prof. Nantewe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged party members and groups intending to purchase the 2027 presidential nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu to desist, noting that the forms have already been secured.
Speaking at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, Yilwatda revealed that a group of youths from Kogi State had paid N100 million in advance for the form on Tinubu’s behalf. The payment was presented through a Zenith Bank cheque during a visit by Kogi Governor Ahmed Ododo and the youths.
“With this payment, I want to announce that nobody should bother to bring money to buy forms for President Tinubu again, because the forms have been procured in advance,” Yilwatda said. He expressed gratitude to the Kogi youths for their initiative, describing it as a display of patriotism and proactive leadership.
The APC chairman highlighted the youths’ shift from passive observers to active participants in national politics. He credited their support to the Tinubu administration’s policies and programs since 2023, noting that they were motivated by what they could do for the president rather than what he could do for them.
“Today is one of the happiest moments in this party because we are seeing young men from the state taking decisive action,” he said, adding that the youths’ engagement sets a precedent for political involvement across Nigeria.
Yilwatda also outlined the reasons provided by the Kogi youths for backing Tinubu’s re-election. They cited improvements in the economy, security measures in their state, and increased youth opportunities through appointments and empowerment programs. They also commended Governor Ododo for infrastructural development and road connectivity in Kogi.
“This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that youths are stepping forward in this manner,” Yilwatda said, describing them as “torchlight, pillars, and examples to others.”
Governor Ododo echoed the appreciation, noting the significant space and recognition President Tinubu has given to Nigerian youths, an opportunity he said he personally benefited from.
