Kogi APC Guber Ticket: Supreme Court Dismisses Smart Adeyemi’s Appeal, Imposes N2 Million Fine

The Supreme Court has ruled on Senator Smart Adeyemi’s appeal regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Kogi State. The apex court’s judgment, delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, brings clarity to a contentious issue and carries a financial penalty.

The Appeal and Dismissal:

Senator Smart Adeyemi’s appeal challenging the nomination of Usman Ahmed Ododo as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate for the November 11 election in Kogi State has been dismissed. The court, in its judgment, held that the case presented by the appellant was without merit.

Justice Agim’s Verdict:

Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, presiding over the case, has stated that Senator Smart Adeyemi’s appeal lacked substance. The verdict aligns with previous rulings from a Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, both located in Abuja. These rulings confirmed the legality of the primary election in which Usman Ahmed Ododo emerged as the victorious candidate.

Financial Penalty:

In a move to discourage what the court deemed a “frivolous and vexatious suit,” Senator Smart Adeyemi has been fined N2 million for filing the appeal.

The Supreme Court’s decision now stands as the final say in this dispute over the Kogi APC gubernatorial ticket. Additional details will be made available in due course.
