“Killers of Our Sons in Benue Must Face Justice” – Kano Governor

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has strongly condemned the killing of two young men from Kano, Barhama Suleiman and Jamilu Ahmad, who were murdered in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor described the attack as barbaric, senseless, and utterly unacceptable.

The victims, identified as peaceful and law-abiding citizens, were ambushed and killed late at night by unknown assailants. Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over their deaths, saying their only “crime” was exercising their constitutional right to live and work anywhere in Nigeria.

Governor Yusuf assured the public that the Kano State Government is committed to ensuring justice is served. He pledged full cooperation with security agencies and the Benue State Government to bring those responsible to justice.

In a show of solidarity, the Governor announced he would lead a high-level delegation, including the victims’ families, to their funeral prayers at the National Mosque in Abuja. He also extended his condolences to the bereaved families and prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, the father of the deceased.

Calling for calm and restraint, Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration will not relent until justice is achieved, reaffirming his dedication to upholding the rights and safety of all Kano citizens.
