Kidnappers Shoot Victim Over ‘Low Bank Balance’ After Collecting ₦2m Ransom
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers who allegedly shot their victim after collecting a ransom of ₦2 million. The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Chukwuebuka Nka, Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma, were said to have attacked the victim in Ogwashi-Uku and later shot him in the leg when they discovered his bank account did not contain as much money as they expected.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe explained that officers responded to a distress call reporting the abduction of a young man from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku. The operatives traced the suspects to a bush in the area, where the victim was rescued despite sustaining a gunshot wound.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Nka and Okechukwu in Anambra State, where police also recovered the victim’s white Toyota Venza. Their confessions enabled officers to raid a hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku, where Chukwuma was apprehended.
The suspects later directed police to their operational base, where officers recovered their vehicle along with a network jammer circuit device believed to have been used during the operation.
