Kidnap of Fouani Reps: Police Apprehend Company Driver, Two Others
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three employees of Fouani Nigeria Limited, a prominent distributor of LG and Hisense products, in connection with the recent kidnapping of four Lebanese nationals. The victims were abducted while traveling from Apapa to Victoria Island last month.
According to police sources, those arrested include a company driver and two other workers. The arrests were made following intensive investigations into the incident, which culminated in the rescue of the victims at Orogbo Iddo area with the assistance of the Marine Police and Nigerian Navy.
Initial challenges arose during the kidnapping when families, the Lebanese community, and their associates initially resisted police involvement in the search for the victims. Despite this, detectives from the office of Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade’s special squad diligently pursued the case.
Sources revealed that ransom close to $1.5 million was paid to the kidnappers before the victims were released and safely returned to their residence on Banana Island.
Commissioner Fayoade reportedly issued strict directives for the apprehension of the perpetrators, leading to the successful arrest of suspects believed to have collaborated with the kidnappers from within the company.
Further inquiries uncovered that the detained suspects have provided detailed accounts of previous operations, both within and outside the company, to investigating detectives.
It was highlighted that the company’s initial reluctance to involve law enforcement allowed the situation to persist with involvement from within its workforce. Authorities have indicated that additional arrests are imminent, with plans to prosecute all those involved.
