Police Capture Notorious Cultist and Hired Killer After Years on the Run

By Arthur Maduka

In a major breakthrough for law enforcement, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 44-year-old suspected cult leader and hired killer linked to numerous violent crimes across the Mushin area of Lagos.

The suspect, whose name remains undisclosed, was captured at his hideout in Agbado, Ogun State, following several failed attempts by authorities. The arrest was confirmed on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to Hundeyin, the arrest was made during a tactical operation codenamed *”Silence, Speed and Surprise,”* carried out by the Police Tactical Squad. The operation, he said, followed years of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

“This suspect has been on our radar for years. He’s one of the most wanted criminals in Lagos State, notorious for operating alongside various gangs to unleash terror in Mushin and nearby areas,” Hundeyin said.

The suspect is alleged to have led multiple deadly operations, including armed robberies, assassinations, kidnappings, and cult-related killings between 2009 and 2024. His violent reign left countless families devastated and communities living in fear.

Despite frequently changing locations and moving across states to evade capture, the Lagos Police Command remained resolute in its pursuit. Following his arrest, police raided his residence in Mushin and recovered a significant cache of weapons and incriminating materials.

Items recovered include:

* Two AK-47 rifles

* One K2 rifle

* One Red Ryder rifle

* Three pump-action shotguns

* Two locally made pistols

* Five magazines

* 57 live cartridges

* 70 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition

* 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition

* One spent 5.56mm shell

* A dagger

* Three walkie-talkies

* Nine passports belonging to different individuals

Police Commissioner Owohunwa Jimoh has ordered an expanded investigation to uncover and apprehend all accomplices linked to the suspect’s criminal network. So far, four families have reportedly identified the suspect as the man responsible for the deaths of their loved ones.

“The arrest of this suspect is a major milestone in our ongoing fight against violent crime in Lagos. Our commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents remains unwavering,” CP Jimoh said.

He also commended the Tactical Squad for their bravery and urged members of the public to continue supporting police efforts by sharing credible information.

The suspect is currently in custody under heightened security. Police say he will be charged and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
