EFCC Arrests Benue Governor’s Aide for Alleged Sextortion of ‘Slim and Attractive’ Female Students

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Mkor Aondona, a special adviser to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, over serious allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying. Aondona, who serves as the governor’s adviser on documentation, research and planning, was taken into custody on Friday, June 20, in Makurdi following a series of petitions filed by female students.

According to a statement released by the EFCC on Saturday, the suspect allegedly exploited his position by targeting “slim and attractive” young women, coercing them into sexual relationships in exchange for job opportunities, particularly in ushering roles. The commission said the victims claimed Aondona demanded sexual favours as a condition for employment, and that some of them were secretly recorded during these encounters without their consent.

EFCC investigators further alleged that Aondona used these recordings as a means of blackmail, threatening to leak the videos if the women refused to continue the sexual relationships. In some instances, the videos were reportedly shared via messaging platforms, adding to the psychological and reputational harm experienced by the victims.

The EFCC stated that the arrest followed careful investigation prompted by multiple complaints from affected women. The commission said Aondona would be formally charged to court soon as the case progresses.
