Kennedy-Ohaneye Emerges as “Street Journal’s Super Minister”
In a resounding victory, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, has outshone her fellow cabinet members to be crowned the “Super Minister” of the month by The Street Journal, an Ireland-based newspaper. The accolade comes after a maiden edition online poll conducted to determine the most outstanding minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
This exciting development was revealed in a statement issued by Osondu Joseph, her Special Assistant on Media, on a recent Sunday in Abuja. The official award ceremony took place at Kennedy-Ohanenye’s office, where she was honored by the media outfit’s management, led by the Publisher, Mogaji Arisekola.
Explaining the rationale behind this recognition, Arisekola underscored the Minister’s exceptional dedication to promoting the interests of women and vulnerable children since assuming her role. He pointed out that the poll was highly competitive, featuring four other ministers contending for the title of “Super Minister.”
Kennedy-Ohanenye secured a significant lead, garnering 190,848 votes (45.74%), while Senator Dave Umahi, former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister for Works, followed closely with 171,137 votes (41.02%). Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, came in third place with 22,505 votes (5.39%), and Bunmi Ojo, the Minister of Interior, received 21,204 votes (5.08%).
Arisekola emphasized the credibility and transparency of the poll, which cannot be manipulated or influenced, and encouraged the winners to continue their outstanding work for the betterment of Nigeria.
In her response, Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed her gratitude to the organizers for using the poll as a yardstick to measure and encourage service delivery among serving ministers. She called upon the media to join in the ongoing effort to improve the status of Nigerian women and vulnerable children, ensuring that funds from donors are effectively used to make a positive impact.
She concluded by stating that the award would inspire her to redouble her efforts in fulfilling the mission set forth by President Bola Tinubu to transform the lives of Nigerian women and vulnerable children.
This recognition signifies a significant step in the Minister’s journey to create positive change for the marginalized in Nigerian society, highlighting the impact of her dedicated service.
