Kano: Senator Rufai Hanga Donates 1 Million Clay Pots, White Cloths to Constituents
In a bid to support his constituents during times of bereavement, Senator Rufai Hanga, representing Kano Central District, has made a significant donation. The senator has generously provided 500,000 clay pots and 500,000 plain white cloths to assist in the burial rites of the community.
This donation comes as a response to the frequent requests for assistance with burial materials from the constituents residing within the 15 local government areas covered by Senator Hanga’s district. The announcement of the donation was made by one of the senator’s social media aides, Dawuud Auwal.
Supervised by the district head of Tarauni and the committee overseeing the graveyard in Kano, Ado Kurawa, the distribution of these essential items will ensure that families have the necessary resources for the proper burial of their loved ones.
In the Muslim tradition, clay pots and white cloths play a crucial role in the burial process. According to Islamic customs, a male corpse requires three wraps, while a female corpse requires five wraps for proper enshrouding.
Mr. Auwal addressed the ongoing requests for assistance, noting that constituents often solicit funds for purchasing white cloths and clay pots, and sometimes even for vehicles to transport the deceased.
In addition to supporting funeral rites, Senator Hanga has demonstrated his commitment to education by providing scholarships for 200 students at Bayero University and registering over 1000 students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams. Furthermore, he has extended assistance to 200 students at Kano Polytechnic, among other initiatives.
These efforts aim to address the needs of the community and dispel accusations of underrepresentation, showcasing Senator Rufai Hanga’s dedication to serving the people of Kano Central District.
