Kano Hisbah Arrests Two Teenagers Over Alleged ‘Gay’ Birthday Party Plans
The Kano State Hisbah Board has detained two teenage boys, Umar Yahaya (19) and Musa Al-Hassan (18), for allegedly planning a ‘gay’ birthday party during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Deputy Command General Mujahideen Aminudeen confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He said the teenagers, who claimed to be pimps, had invited peers from across Nigeria through social media to attend the party immediately after Eid prayers.
“They planned a gathering involving dancing and indecent behavior, intending to undermine the spiritual benefits of Ramadan,” Aminudeen said. He added that the teenagers had invoked the Hisbah Board in their invitations.
The board noted that the boys lacked proper religious understanding and guidance. “They are young and inexperienced, with limited knowledge of Islam and life conduct,” Aminudeen said.
He explained that the teenagers would remain under Hisbah supervision to receive guidance on religious practice, good character, and responsible behavior, rather than face immediate imprisonment.
In addition, the board plans to increase monitoring of mosques during the final days of Ramadan to ensure worshipers are engaged in genuine prayers and not inappropriate gatherings.
Aminudeen emphasized, “Ramadan’s final days are for intensified worship and good deeds. We will continue efforts to ensure these principles are upheld across the community.”
