Kaduna: NURTW Chairman, Former Bandit Captive, Kidnapped Again with 3 Neighbor’s Children

Bandits have once again abducted the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Kidandan Village, Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State. This latest incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Saturday, following a heavy downpour that left the village vulnerable to attack.

The NURTW Chairman, identified as Tasiu Habibu, was previously held hostage by bandits for 60 days before his release, which was secured after a ransom payment. His re-abduction comes as a shocking blow to the community, as he had only recently regained his freedom.

Alongside Habibu, three children of a neighboring health worker were also taken during the raid, bringing the total number of victims to four. A witness, Sanusi Kidandan, described the chaos that unfolded as the heavily armed bandits stormed the village in large numbers, shooting sporadically into the air and causing widespread panic.

“The father of the children is a neighbor of the NURTW chairman. The bandits took only the children, all minors, along with the chairman. They fired shots as they entered the village at about 9:30 PM,” Kidandan revealed.

One villager, Idris Jibril, was injured during the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Munsir Hassan, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
