Kaduna: Last Bethel Baptist School Student Kidnapped in 2021 Released
The last victim of the tragic kidnapping at Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna, has finally been reunited with their family. Treasure Ayuba, the remaining student held captive since the harrowing incident that took place on July 5, 2021, has been set free.
On that fateful day, armed gunmen stormed the school premises, abducting a total of 121 students. Over the past few years, multiple efforts were made to secure the release of these innocent students, with the majority of them being freed in various operations.
The Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC), a pivotal figure in the quest for the students’ release, officially confirmed Treasure Ayuba’s safe return on Thursday night. NBC President, Rev. Israel Akanji, expressed his joy and gratitude in a statement, saying, “Glory be to God! Glory be to God!! Glory be to God!!! Treasure Ayuba, the last boy who was still with the bandits who kidnapped the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna, on July 5, 2021, has just returned home today, November 2, 2023.”
He continued, “Thanks be to our unfailing God. Thank you also very much for your prayers and numerous support.”
This long-awaited release marks a significant step towards closure for the affected families and the community as a whole, and stands as a testament to the relentless efforts put forth in securing the students’ freedom.
