JUST IN: “We Will Commence Payment of New Minimum Wage Next Month” — Gov Soludo
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo announced today that the state government will commence the payment of a new minimum wage of N70,000 next month. The announcement was made during a meeting with principals and head teachers at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center in Awka.
In addition to the wage increase, Governor Soludo revealed that starting next week, free education will be extended to senior secondary students in all public schools across Anambra. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to enhance educational opportunities despite existing resource constraints.
Since 2023, the Soludo administration has implemented a free education policy for students from Basic to Junior Secondary School levels. As part of this new initiative, the governor directed that senior secondary students who have already paid a N5,000 fee for the current term will receive refunds.
Governor Soludo emphasized his administration’s dedication to human capital development and vowed to continue making strides in this area.
