JUST IN: Uncompleted Building Collapses, Many Feared Trapped
Panic gripped residents of the Ota-Ona area in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Monday afternoon following the collapse of an uncompleted two-storey building, with many feared trapped under the debris.
The incident occurred opposite the Mobil Filling Station (formerly known as Bugon Filling Station), drawing the attention of passersby and local residents. Social media user Rasheed Adedeji Fatuga, who first raised the alarm via Facebook, shared a video from the scene showing frantic efforts to reach those believed to be buried beneath the rubble.
Emergency response teams have since arrived at the site and are actively involved in search and rescue operations. As of the time of filing this report, five individuals have been pulled out alive. However, the total number of people still trapped remains uncertain.
The cause of the collapse has not yet been officially determined. Authorities have cordoned off the area as rescue efforts continue.
