JUST IN: Tinubu Not Visiting U.S., Presidency Clarifies Amid Media Speculation
The Nigerian Presidency has formally disclaimed recent media reports suggesting that President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to visit the United States this Tuesday, including claims that he would meet with U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Presidency described the reports as “fallacious, baseless, and mischievous”, aimed at undermining the Tinubu administration.
“The purported media reportage from numerous news outlets about his visit to the United States is not true,” the statement said. “President Tinubu is not visiting the Vice President of the United States of America. Reporters and the public are urged to disregard this misinformation.”
This comes after various news outlets had circulated claims that Tinubu’s visit was connected to concerns raised by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding alleged attacks on Christians in Nigeria, and possible military intervention.
