The Presidency has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA). Her tenure will run for an initial four-year term, effective April 16, 2026.

The appointment was confirmed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, citing the provisions of Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, 2015.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the new agency head to apply her professional expertise toward strengthening biosafety governance and advancing national priorities in public health and environmental safety.

Dr. Zuntu is a public health professional and policy strategist with experience in managing national-level programmes. Her appointment places her at the helm of the National Biosafety Management Agency, the federal body responsible for regulating biotechnology and biosafety standards in Nigeria.

The government stated that the role is expected to reinforce ongoing efforts to ensure safe application of biotechnology and compliance with national biosafety regulations.
