JUST IN: Supreme Court Reinstates Caleb Mutfwang as Plateau State Governor
In a groundbreaking development, the Supreme Court has decisively affirmed Caleb Mutfwang’s position as the duly elected governor of Plateau state. Chief Justice Emmanuel Agim, heading the apex court, categorically declared that the entire legal challenge against Mutfwang’s tenure amounted to a blatant abuse of the court process.
The court explicitly rebuked the Court of Appeal for nullifying Mutfwang’s election, emphasizing that matters pertaining to the validity of a political party’s candidate are beyond the jurisdiction of the tribunal and the appellate court. Justice Agim underscored that internal affairs of a political party, including decisions of the national executive council and party administration, fall outside the purview of these judicial bodies.
“The election and return of the appellant as governor of Plateau state is hereby restored,” Justice Agim pronounced, effectively reinstating Caleb Mutfwang to his gubernatorial role.
