JUST IN: Protesters Storm EFCC HQ, Demand Reopening of Probe into Former Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle
Protesters under the banner of the APC Loyalists Forum have converged on the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging the commission to reopen its investigation into former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle.
The demonstration, which drew dozens of participants from Zamfara State, took place at the main entrance of the EFCC’s Abuja office. Protesters held signs and chanted slogans demanding that the anti-corruption agency reexamine all petitions against Matawalle, including allegations of contract diversion totaling N70 billion during his term as governor.
Wilson Uwujaren, Director of Public Affairs at the EFCC, met with the protesters and received their letter of demand. He assured them that the commission remains committed to thoroughly investigating all corruption allegations, including those against former Governor Matawalle.
The APC Loyalists Forum has stated that it will continue to push for accountability and transparency, insisting that all petitions be reviewed to ensure justice is served.
Authorities at the EFCC did not immediately confirm whether the investigation would be reopened, but Uwujaren’s response has given protesters some hope that their concerns will be addressed. As the demonstration concluded, leaders of the APC Loyalists Forum reiterated their commitment to ongoing advocacy until their demands are met.
