JUST IN: PDP Oguduokwor Ward Expels Odefa, National Vice Chairman, South-East

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has announced the expulsion of its suspended National Vice Chairman, South-East, Mr. Ali Odefa. This decision follows allegations of anti-party activities leveled against him.

Odefa was initially suspended by the ward executives on September 11, 2024. His suspension was subsequently upheld by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki on November 29, 2024, in its ruling on suit No. FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Onyeka Herbert Ovuta, the Acting Chairman of PDP Oguduokwor Ward, revealed that the expulsion was based on the findings and recommendations of the ward’s disciplinary committee. He emphasized that the decision was made in accordance with the party’s constitution.

In a statement issued by the ward executives, they declared: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, hereby announces the expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman of the PDP, South-East Zone, from the party, which takes immediate effect.

“The expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa follows the report, findings, and recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee of the party, which is in line with the provisions of the party constitution. Recall that Chief Ali Odefa was suspended from the party by the ward leadership on 11th September 2024.

“Consequent upon the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki, which affirmed the suspension, the disciplinary committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward, after its deliberations, unanimously recommended the expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa. The executive committee of the ward, on December 11, 2024, approved the recommendation, ensuring compliance with sections 58(1) and 59(1) of the PDP constitution.”

The statement concluded by confirming that Odefa “ceases to be a member of the PDP.”

Attempts to reach Odefa for comment were unsuccessful as he neither answered calls nor responded to text messages.
