JUST IN: PDP Governors Reaffirm Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary
In a move aimed at reinforcing internal cohesion, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has backed the ratification of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the party. Following a meeting held today in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Forum reiterated its earlier position—originally made in Asaba—supporting Udeh-Okoye’s nomination.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, reaffirmed their stance on Udeh-Okoye. However, in light of a recent Supreme Court judgment, the Forum agreed that the Deputy National Secretary should temporarily act in the role while the South East Zone, to which the position is zoned, completes the formal process of renomination.
The South East Zone, which has consistently backed Udeh-Okoye, is now expected to re-present his name to the PDP’s National Working Committee in line with the party’s 2017 amended constitution. This move clears the way for his formal ratification and return to office.
