JUST IN: Olubadan of Ibadan is Dead
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has died.
Sources confirmed that the revered monarch passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025—just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.
Oba Olakulehin was officially installed as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on July 12, 2024, after receiving his staff of office from Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. His reign, though brief, lasted one year and followed the passing of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Before ascending the throne, Oba Olakulehin held the traditional title of Balogun Olubadan, one of the two ruling lines in the Ibadan chieftaincy system.
Further details surrounding his passing and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Olubadan-in-Council in due course.
May his soul rest in peace.
