JUST IN: Nigeria Crush Mozambique 4-0 to Storm AFCON 2025 Quarterfinals
Nigeria maintained their perfect run at AFCON 2025 with a commanding 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16 at Fez Stadium tonight.
Three-time champions Nigeria, unbeaten in the tournament, showed why they were the favourites. Osimhen scored twice, while Adams and Lookman added one each, handing Mozambique a tough exit in their first-ever knockout appearance. The Super Eagles also kept a clean sheet for the first time in the tournament.
Lookman, who scored once and provided two assists, was named Player of the Match, taking his AFCON tally to three goals and four assists in three games. With four wins from four matches, Nigeria remains the only team to maintain a perfect record, outscoring all others with 12 goals so far.
Mozambique made several substitutions in a bid to fight back, but the Super Eagles’ dominance was clear throughout. Nigeria now await the winner of Algeria vs DR Congo in the quarterfinals.
