JUST IN: Mother, Three Children Kidnapped by Bandits in Abuja Estate
In a distressing incident, bandits targeted the Zone 5 segment of the Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate along Arab Road in the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday night. The assailants struck between 8 pm and 9 pm, creating chaos by firing indiscriminately.
The victims of this heinous act include a woman and her three children, among them a six-month-old baby. Residents, who are becoming increasingly distressed, highlighted that such kidnappings have sadly become a regular occurrence in the area every December.
A concerned resident, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed worry, stating, “This kidnapping has become a regular occurrence here every December. If you remember very well, last December reported a similar incident of abduction in the area, now this is another one, and it is worrisome.”
Another resident attributed the recurring kidnappings to a lack of adequate security in the area, emphasizing the gravity of the situation: “This kidnapping is due to a lack of adequate security in the area. Last night they kidnapped a whole family – a mother and her three children, including a six months old baby here at Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation estate.”
Despite the urgency of the situation, the FCT Police Command has not issued an official statement at the time of this report. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, assured, “I will find out and get back to you as soon as possible, please.”
Meanwhile, efforts to reach FCT CP Haruna Garba were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls on Monday. The community awaits updates from the authorities as they grapple with the recurring threat of banditry in their midst.
