JUST IN: Labour Party Withdraws Petition Against Fubara’s Election, Vows Support for Governor’s Agenda
The Labour Party (LP) has officially withdrawn its petition challenging the election of Governor Sim Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Rivers State polls. The Appeal Court in Lagos had previously dismissed LP’s petition, affirming Fubara’s victory.
LP’s governorship candidate, Beatrice Itubo, confirmed the decision in an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Saturday in Port Harcourt. She expressed the party’s commitment to fostering unity and progress in Rivers State by pledging full support for Governor Fubara’s administration.
This development follows weeks of legal battles, with the Appeal Court solidifying Fubara’s position as the legitimate governor. Beatrice Itubo’s announcement marks a shift in LP’s stance, indicating a desire for collaboration rather than continued legal contention.
