JUST IN: Iran Launches Hundreds of Missiles at Israel in Retaliation

The Middle East crisis escalated dramatically today as Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles into several key locations across Israel, including the capital, Tel Aviv. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing regional tensions.

According to initial reports, while Israel’s Iron Dome defense system intercepted many of the incoming missiles, a number of them landed in populated areas, causing widespread damage. The Israeli military confirmed the missile strike, stating, “A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran to Israel.”

Air raid sirens blared across the country, including in major cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Residents reported hearing loud explosions in Tel Aviv, with the sky lighting up from intercepted missiles.

Iran’s attack comes in retaliation for the recent assassination of key regional figures, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and an Iranian commander. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps issued a statement warning that additional missile strikes would follow if Iran faced further aggression.

This missile barrage follows Israel’s rare ground invasion of southern Lebanon just a day earlier, where Israeli forces targeted Hezbollah strongholds. Hezbollah responded by firing missiles at Israeli targets, including a strike on the Glilot base near Tel Aviv, which houses the headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency.

The U.S. has quickly expressed strong support for Israel. A senior White House official warned of “severe consequences for Iran” should the attacks continue. In response, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris convened urgent meetings with national security officials to discuss potential measures to support Israel and ensure the safety of American personnel in the region.

As the situation grows increasingly volatile, the U.S. has begun mobilizing additional military forces to the Middle East, adding thousands of troops to the 40,000 already stationed in the region. The Israeli military, meanwhile, has called up reserve brigades to bolster its defenses along its northern border while conducting airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.

The assassination of Hezbollah’s leader Nasrallah over the weekend has sparked global concern, with fears mounting of a broader regional conflict as both Iran and Israel continue to exchange heated threats.
