JUST IN: Gunmen Attack Abuja Community, Kidnap 4 Residents

Gunmen invaded the Bmuko community in the Dutse Baupma area of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Monday night, abducting four residents.

According to witnesses, the attack began around 11:50 p.m. when the assailants stormed Zone C, Road 5 of the community, shooting indiscriminately into the air to create chaos and fear among the residents. The first target was the home of Engineer Patrick, where they kidnapped his wife and brother.

A local resident, Mr. Isah, described the invasion as terrifying. “From the engineer’s house, after taking his wife and brother, they divided into two groups,” he said. “One group went towards the riverside, while the other headed towards the hillside. The group going towards the hillside stopped at a nearby house, where they kidnapped a pastor and another young man.”

The attack caused widespread panic among the residents, who were unable to act due to fear for their lives. The local community leader, who requested anonymity, stated that the alarm was raised shortly before midnight when a landlord sent a voice note to a neighborhood platform, alerting others that the community was under attack.

Local security personnel quickly responded, and authorities called the FCDA Police Station for backup. The police and soldiers were deployed, but despite their efforts, the kidnappers managed to escape with the hostages. No arrests were made, and the search for the abductees continues.

Community leaders expressed concern over the lack of police presence and inadequate security measures in Bmuko. “We have been asking for a police outpost in our community, but our requests have not been granted,” one leader explained. “This is a densely populated area, and security should be a priority.”

The community is hopeful that the kidnapped individuals will be rescued safely. They have not yet received any communication from the kidnappers, and the residents remain on high alert. Despite the intervention of the police and soldiers, the atmosphere in Bmuko remains tense as the search for the kidnappers and their victims continues.
