JUST IN: Guinness World Records Confirms Hilda Baci’s Largest Serving of Jollof Rice

 

Nigerian chef and culinary star Hilda Baci has officially entered the Guinness World Records once again, this time for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The record-breaking dish weighed 8,780 kilogrammes (19,356 lb 9 oz) and was confirmed on Monday by Guinness World Records.

 

The achievement took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, in partnership with food brand Gino. The event drew a massive crowd of supporters, celebrities, and food lovers who gathered to witness the milestone. Guinness World Records celebrated the feat on X, formerly Twitter, posting: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

 

Baci, who captured global attention in 2023 with her headline-making cook-a-thon, has once again brought Nigerian cuisine to the world stage. Ahead of the confirmation, Guinness World Records shared encouragement for her attempt, reposting a video from the event with the message: “What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice today.”

 

With this remarkable accomplishment, Hilda Baci further cements her status as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs and a cultural ambassador showcasing the richness of the nation’s food heritage.
