JUST IN: Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Arrested by EFCC Over Alleged Corruption
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, over allegations of fund misappropriation during his administration.
Bello was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after arriving at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, accompanied by his lawyers. He drove himself in a black Hilux to honor the agency’s invitation but was subsequently detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
This development follows a recent Supreme Court judgment that upheld the legality of the EFCC’s operations, which had been challenged by some states. Bello’s arrest also comes ahead of a scheduled court hearing on November 27.
The EFCC, during its last hearing on November 14, sought an adjournment to allow for the 30-day window to respond to earlier summons issued against the former governor.
