JUST IN: FG Reveals Those Fueling ‘Christian Genocide’ Claims in Nigeria
The federal government has accused foreign lobbyists of driving misleading claims about an alleged “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said government findings reveal coordinated efforts by external actors—particularly in the United States—to distort Nigeria’s security situation and fuel religious tension.
“The Nigerian government has identified links between certain lobbyists abroad, especially in the U.S., and activities within the country,” Idris said.
He noted that while the government acknowledges the impact of insecurity on several communities, there is no credible evidence of systematic attacks targeting any specific religious group.
