JUST IN: FG Extends Eid-El-Fitr Holiday to Thursday Following Crescent Sighting Delay
In response to the delayed sighting of the crescent in Saudi Arabia, the Federal Government has extended the public holiday for the Eid-El-Fitr celebration to Thursday. Initially, a two-day holiday had been declared, spanning Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the crescent sighting delay prompted the decision to add an extra day to the holiday. She stated, “The Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 11, 2024, as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Fitr.”
In light of this extension, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior, conveyed congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation. He emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all citizens.
