JUST IN: Emirates to Resume Daily Flights Between Lagos and Dubai from October 1st
In a major announcement today, Emirates revealed its plans to reinstate services to Nigeria from October 1st, 2024. This move will see the airline operating a daily service connecting Lagos and Dubai, offering passengers enhanced connectivity and travel options.
The route will be serviced by a Boeing 777-300ER, with flight EK783 departing Dubai at 09:45 and arriving in Lagos at 15:20. The return flight, EK784, will take off from Lagos at 17:30 and touch down in Dubai at 05:10 the following day. Tickets for these flights are now available for booking on emirates.com and through authorized travel agents.
Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, expressed enthusiasm about the decision, stating, “We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai route has historically been popular among Nigerian travelers, and we look forward to reconnecting leisure and business travelers to Dubai and beyond.”
With this reinstatement, Emirates will now serve 19 gateways in Africa with 157 weekly flights from Dubai. Additionally, through its codeshare and interline partnerships with various airlines, Emirates provides access to an additional 130 regional points in Africa.
The resumption of daily passenger flights between Lagos and Dubai is expected to further strengthen the bilateral trade relations between Nigeria and the UAE. Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial hub, plays a pivotal role in this partnership. Emirates SkyCargo will play a vital role in this aspect by offering more than 300 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity in and out of Lagos every week. This will facilitate the export of Nigerian goods to key markets such as the UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bahrain, among others.
The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER serving the Lagos route will boast 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats, and 304 Economy Class seats. Passengers can indulge in regionally inspired multi-course menus curated by award-winning chefs, along with a wide selection of premium beverages. The airline’s inflight entertainment system, ice, will offer over 6,500 channels of global entertainment, including 23 Nigerian movies, ensuring a delightful travel experience for passengers.
