JUST IN: Edo PDP Chairman Tony Aziegbemi Regains Freedom

Tony Aziegbemi, the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, has been rescued from his captors after a harrowing ordeal. The high-ranking political figure was abducted by a group of armed assailants in close proximity to his residence in Benin City.

Aziegbemi’s release came in the early hours of Tuesday, March 26, 2024, marking the end of a tense period of uncertainty. Sources reveal that he made his way back to his home in Benin City around 3 a.m., finally reunited with his family and loved ones.

Confirming this development, Crusoe Osagie, the special adviser for media projects to the Edo State Governor, conveyed the news in a telephone conversation with Channels Television, shedding light on the relief that has swept through the political landscape of the state.

Prior to his abduction, Aziegbemi, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East federal constituency of Edo State, was intercepted by the gunmen while on his way home. The assailants, traveling in two Toyota Corolla cars, ambushed his sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Osaro Street late in the evening of Friday, March 16, 2024, before whisking him away.
