JUST IN: Dozens Feared Trapped in Abuja Building Collapse, Rescue Efforts Underway
A tragic building collapse has left dozens of individuals trapped under the rubble in the Sabon Lugbe area of Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory. The incident occurred earlier today, and emergency responders and local residents are working together in a desperate attempt to locate survivors and rescue those still buried.
Eyewitness footage shared with SaharaReporters shows community members calling on government authorities and emergency agencies to expedite rescue efforts. “People are still under this rubble. It’s a construction site,” an onlooker narrates in the video, appealing for urgent intervention.
This incident comes amid growing concerns over construction safety standards in the capital. Just weeks ago, emergency crews responded to similar incidents across Abuja, including the collapse of a two-story residential building in Kubwa, near Cupid Hotel, and another at Praco Limited Estate in Guzape, both of which trapped workers and led to fatalities.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as officials prioritize removing the debris and reaching potential survivors.
