JUST IN: Court Reserves Judgment in Kano Governor’s Appeal
The Court of Appeal in Abuja today made a significant decision in the ongoing legal battle involving Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, who is seeking to overturn his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal had rendered its verdict on September 20, declaring 165,663 of Abba Yusuf’s votes invalid and nullifying his election. The reason cited for this decision was that the ballot papers in question lacked the necessary signatures and stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Subsequently, the tribunal declared Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress candidate, as the winner of the governorship election.
In response to this judgment, Governor Abba Yusuf decided to exercise his legal right and filed an appeal, firmly requesting the court to set aside the tribunal’s decision.
The Kano State Governor’s appeal has attracted considerable attention, with many eager to see how the Court of Appeal will ultimately decide on this matter. The court’s judgment has been reserved, leaving Kano State and the entire nation in suspense as they await the final ruling that could potentially change the political landscape in the state.
