JUST IN: Court Issues Interim Order Restraining Chief Judge, Clerk of Rivers Assembly from Engaging with Pro-Wike Lawmakers

The High Court of Rivers State, presided over by Hon. Justice Dr. D. Jumbo Stephens, has issued an interim order prohibiting the Chief Judge and the Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly from engaging with Martin Amaewhule and 26 other members of the Assembly.

Key Orders Issued by the Court:

Interim Injunction: The court has restrained the Chief Judge of Rivers State and the Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly from dealing with Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule and his 26 co-defendants. This includes a prohibition on receiving, forwarding, or acting on any resolutions, articles of impeachment, or other communications from these defendants.

Status Quo Maintenance: All parties involved in the suit are ordered to maintain the status quo as it was on July 5, 2024. This order is to remain in effect until the court hears the motion for an interlocutory injunction.

Substituted Service: The court mandated that all originating and subsequent legal documents be served to the 1st to 30th defendants by posting them at the gate of the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters, located opposite the former NDDC headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.

Adjournment: The case has been adjourned to July 15, 2024, for the hearing of the motion for an interlocutory injunction.
