JUST IN: Chaos as Gunmen Kill Four Policemen, POS Operator in Imo
Imo State was thrown into chaos on Monday evening when gunmen attacked a checkpoint on Owerri-Onitsha road, killing four policemen and a Point of Sale (POS) operator.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants opened fire on the policemen who were on duty at the Irete axis of the road, killing four officers instantly. A female POS operator, who remains unidentified, was also fatally shot in the incident.
One witness described the scene as “like a war zone” as the gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets before fleeing the scene. The attack has caused widespread fear and panic in the area.
As of the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, has yet to comment on the incident.
