JUST IN: Bandits Launch Deadly Attack in Abuja, Kill Man and Abduct Family
On Thursday night, armed bandits attacked the Ushafa community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), leaving one man dead and abducting his wife and children. The attack occurred in Zone A, near the Back of Primary School in Ushafa, a location known for previous violent incidents.
The victim, identified as Mr. Felix Chuks, was reportedly killed during the attack, which began around midnight. Eyewitnesses reported hearing heavy gunfire as the bandits stormed the area. Efforts by locals to contact vigilantes for assistance during the attack were unsuccessful, as the men on duty reportedly did not respond to calls, likely due to the intensity of the gunfire.
While the exact circumstances leading to Mr. Chuks’ death remain unclear, sources suggest he may have resisted the bandits, which could have prompted them to kill him. A resident who spoke to AFRIPOST speculated, “It looks like the man was not cooperating with them, which is why they killed him.”
This latest attack is not the first of its kind in the area. Just months ago, bandits struck the same community, killing a man and abducting his pregnant wife and children. Despite these repeated attacks, no arrests have been made in connection with the previous incidents.
Attempts to reach the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful, as her phone line was reportedly busy.
In response to the latest tragedy, an emergency meeting of the Ushafa community was convened and is currently ongoing to address the situation. The meeting aims to discuss the security challenges facing the community and potential measures to prevent future attacks.
