JUST IN: Anambra Police Arrest Two for Kidnap, Murder of Onitsha Bank Manager After ₦14 Million Ransom
In a major breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the abduction and brutal murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha. The arrests, made on May 28, 2025, follow sustained efforts by police operatives to bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects—identified as Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28—were tracked to their hideout in a neighbouring state during an intensive investigation. They are accused of kidnapping the bank manager and murdering her even after collecting a ransom of ₦14 million from her family.
The tragic incident occurred on January 13, 2025, when the victim’s lifeless body was discovered along Nnobi Road. Her eyes had been tied, indicating the brutality of the crime.
The suspects are currently being interrogated as police work to uncover more details about the operations of the criminal gang and to apprehend additional members involved.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Anambra State. He assured the public that the case will be pursued to a logical conclusion and that justice will be served.
