JUST IN: Again, Bandits Raid Kwara Community, Kidnap 11 Residents Including Nursing, Pregnant Women
A fresh wave of violence has hit Kwara State as armed men raided the Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area, abducting 11 residents in an overnight attack. The incident follows an assault about two weeks ago on the Christ Apostolic Church, where 38 worshippers were taken and several others were reported dead.
Residents said the attackers, estimated at more than 20 and moving with a large herd of cattle, entered the community late Monday and began shooting wildly. An elderly woman was said to have been struck by a stray bullet as people scrambled for safety.
A community leader, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal, confirmed that 11 people were taken, seven of them from the same family. The victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several children. Those identified are Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), Habibat, Fatima Yusufu, Sarah Sunday (22), Lami Fidelis (23), and Haja Na Allah.
Residents who witnessed the attack said the gunmen moved through several parts of the town, leaving bullet holes in homes and doors. Dozens of spent AK-47 shells were recovered after they fled.
Security agencies have yet to release any official statement on the incident, and tension remains high in the area as families await news of the abducted.
