A Director from the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue, Dr. Aribibia Fubara, has been freed after being kidnapped on August 24. Dr. Fubara was abducted at the Okrika waterfront near the Marine Base area in Port Harcourt.
Sources indicate that Dr. Fubara was released shortly after midnight on Thursday last week on one of the smaller islands near Bonny. However, he was not reunited with his family until Friday, September 6, 2024.
A family insider, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that a ransom of ₦15 million was paid to secure Dr. Fubara’s release. He was held for 12 days before being freed.
The Rivers State Police Command has scheduled a briefing for the Commissioner of Police to discuss Dr. Fubara’s release and related matters.
